Introduction
The Asian subcontinent has a rich tradition of martial arts, whether it’s Korea’s Taekwondo, Karate from Japan, Muay Thai from Thailand, or India’s own traditions of wrestling and regional variations such as Kalaripayatu or Lathi Khela. Martial arts as a sport today is pursued for its many benefits – the practice of a martial art helps in fitness, and mental wellness. It strengthens the mind-body connection and teaches sportsmanship and conflict-resolution.
Taekwondo has provided a rich cultural exchange between India and Korea from as early as 1975, and was featured at the National Games held at New Delhi in 1985. Today, taekwondo is among the most widely practiced martial arts in India, becoming an official Olympic sport in 2000.
In order to celebrate the tradition of cultural exchange through sports, and to encourage the sport of martial arts in India, Extreme Sports and Cultural Center is conducting an International level competition in Bangalore, in June 2023.
The event is based in the melting pot that is Bangalore, a picturesque city of global culture, sports and art. Korean culture is gaining in popularity, and besides K-pop and other aspects, the spirit of Taekwondo allows fans to share a sense of camaraderie.
About Extreme Sports and Cultural Center
Extreme Sports & Cultural Center has been conducting taekwondo training since 2004, and has trained over xx students, through classes conducted at their center, as well as through schools and local apartments. The activities are currently centred in the DMS Pro Sports Academy, located in Bangalore.
The tournament will be organised by Master Chandrashekar, Global Taekwondo Master of Extreme Sports, who has been authorised as Chairman of the South Zone, and Master Verony Rajini as manager by Grand Master Lee Jeong Hee, dispatched Kukkiwon Master to India from the Government of South Korea.

The Grandmaster Lee Jeong Hee Cup Open Indian National Taekwondo Championship 2023 will be conducted in Bangalore, inviting taekwondo practitioners across India and inviting experts from across the world under the banner of Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Headquarters.
The tournament will be organised by Extreme Sports & Cultural Center under the ambit of the Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Headquarters, the official governing organisation of taekwondo, Government of South Korea.

Event Details
- Participation in this tournament will be invited from schools across India, as well as Taekwondo Do-jongs (Taekwondo academies)
- Over 2000 competitors are expected to take part, and along with them will be a viewing audience of parents and well-wishers
- A grand opening ceremony and concluding prize distribution will be organised as part of the two-day tournament
- Korea Fest – Other cultural activities will be conducted such as Korean food festival and K-Pop performance competition
- We expect high levels of participation from schools and martial arts practitioners across India, as well as buzz on local sports media and social media
- Concluding ceremony followed by hosted dinner with Korean officials

The tournament is open to all taekwondo players at any levels. We expect over 2000 students and athletes to participate. Participation will be invited from anywhere within India, open to:
